General Guidelines:
Atlantis Dubai Photoshoot definition
A photo shoot is defined as a professional photographer taking photographs of an individual or a group as they stand or sit for multiple poses.
Atlantis Dubai Photo Scenarios – The attached SOP has been updated, and for clarity I have detailed the process below for each type of shoot/request.
- In-house guests on holiday without a professional photographer but might have a nice, professional-looking camera – does not require PR support/approval
- Guests staying in-house with us are allowed to take photos of their holiday using a nice, professional camera. This could look like a family taking photos, a man photographing his wife, or even a family or couple asking another resort guest or member of staff to take their picture for them.
- These photos are permitted and do not need a photoshoot form. We ask all teams to use their discretion to determine if the guests should be approached to produce a photoshoot form. If it looks like everyday photos being taken on holiday, it is most likely everyday photos being taken on holiday.
- These photos will take place in the public areas of the resort, but please be mindful that they may have their camera with them at private locations, such as Cloud 22, Nobu by the Beach, etc. As long as guests are just capturing their holiday and not disrupting operations or other guests, we should allow them to take their photos.
- In-house guests on holiday with a professional photographer – does not require PR support/approval
- As detailed in the attached forms, in-house guests are permitted to conduct a professional photoshoot if they are staying with us and follow the guidelines stipulated at the top of the photoshoot form. They do need a photoshoot form.
- When a professional photographer is brought in, the guests are restricted to public areas of the resort and their rooms. They cannot take the photographer to private locations, such as Cloud 22, Nobu by the Beach, etc.
- The attached forms clearly states the permitted areas. Should you see a guest shooting with a professional photographer in restricted areas, please do feel free to step in as the guest should be clear as per their signed photoshoot form.
- External guests/visitors with a booking who might have a nice, professional looking camera with them– does not require PR support/approval
- If an external guest has a booking or tickets to a private location in either resort (such as Nobu by the Beach, etc.) they are allowed to take photos of their experience using a nice camera, and do not need a photoshoot form. As long as they are capturing their experience and not disrupting operations or other guests, we should allow them to take their photos.
- Should you see an external guest shooting with a professional photographer in a restricted area, please do feel free to step in as we do not permit external guests to conduct professional photoshoots.
- External guests/visitors requesting a shoot with a professional photographer – does not require PR support/approval
- We do not permit external guests to conduct professional photoshoots, per security guidelines, unless they have a booking or tickets to a private location in either resort (such as Nobu by the Beach, etc.) In this case, they are allowed to take photos of their experience using a nice camera, and do not need a photoshoot form. As long as they are capturing their experience and not disrupting operations or other guests, we should allow them to take their photos.
- Should you see an external guest shooting with a professional photographer in a restricted area, please do feel free to step in as we do not permit external guests to conduct professional photoshoots.
- Photos at Atlantis Dubai Events – does not require PR support/approval
- The Events Team should determine if photography/videography should be flagged with the PR team. If the photographer is only capturing the private event, this does not need to be approved by PR but the Events team should still flag this with security.
- If the outside event requests other areas of the resort, this should be approved prior to the event.
A couple of notes on the rules for professional photography photoshoots
In-house guests:
- Guest may approach the Front office/Royal Club/Concierge team to request a photoshoot. At this point a photoshoot form will be provided by the colleague for review and signature by the guest.
- Guest needs to be present with the photographer to facilitate this process.
- The original photoshoot form to be scanned, with Emirates ID/ Passport of the photographer and attached to the email that will be sent to Security team and PR team for our records.
- A copy of the photoshoot form to also be provided to the Guest, who must keep the form with them at all times to show security when requested.
- Guest must follow the rules as detailed in the photoshoot form.
- These types of shoots do not require pre-approval and can be confirmed to the guest on the spot as long as the SOP is followed.
When should the photoshoot request be escalated to PR:
- Only requests with clear public relations impact and added brand value should be directed to the PR team, such as coverage by press publications (top-tier magazines, news publications, etc.), broadcast media (TV, radio, YouTube, etc.), or verified celebrities/influencers/content creators. Unless the request includes confirmed media, broadcast, or high-impact social value (such as Instagram), it should not be treated as a PR initiative.
- If the request involves drone equipment
For the above, please direct the guest to email publicrelations@atlantisdubai.com with a full overview of their requirements for review. A team member will get back to them within 24-hours.
